Permanent Residence in Canada through Express Entry

How to apply for permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry, which is a system that selects skilled immigrants who want to settle in Canada permanently and take part in its economy. Here are the main points of the page:

  • Express Entry has three programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Each program has different eligibility criteria based on work experience, education, language skills, and other factors.

  • To apply for permanent residence through Express Entry, you need to create an online profile and enter your personal information, such as your name, age, education, work experience, language skills, etc. You also need to take a language test and get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if you have a foreign education.

  • Your profile will be placed in a pool of candidates and ranked according to a point system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS awards points based on your skills, education, language ability, work experience, and other factors. You can also get additional points if you have a valid job offer, a nomination from a province or territory, or a sibling living in Canada as a citizen or permanent resident.

  • The Canadian government regularly invites the highest-ranking candidates from the pool to apply for permanent residence. This is called an Invitation to Apply (ITA). You can check your score and rank in the pool at any time through your online account. You can also improve your score by updating your profile with new information or credentials.

  • If you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residence. You need to fill out the form, upload the required documents, pay the fees, and submit your complete application. The documents include your passport, language test results, ECA report, police certificates, medical exams, proof of funds, etc. You can check the status of your application through your online account.

  • If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) and a permanent resident visa (if you need one). You need to show these documents when you arrive in Canada. You also need to have a valid passport and proof of funds. You will become a permanent resident once you complete the landing process at the port of entry.
